Activity and sleep statistics
Updated on 2026-09-01
Two of the cards on the Statistics hub are about what happens away from the barbell. Activity is everything your phone and your watch counted while you moved; Sleep is your nights. Open the More tab, tap Statistics, then pick the card you want.
Both are fed by your phone's health app, so they only show up once there is something to show - more on that below.
Activity
A row of pills sits at the top: W, M, 6M, Y. Those are the last week, the last month, the last six months and the last year, counted back from today. Everything on the screen follows the pill you pick.
Steps, Distance and Active kcal share one chart - tap the metric you want and the chart switches to it. Three figures sit underneath for the period you're viewing: the Total, your Daily average, and your Best day.
By sport breaks the period down by what you actually did - running, walking, cycling, swimming, whatever your device called it - so you can see where the distance and the time went.
Sessions is the list below that: every activity your phone or your watch recorded, newest first. Tap one and it opens in full - the route on a map when there was one, your pace against your heart rate, the splits, the climb. It's the same detail view you get from the Workouts tab.
Heart closes the screen. It shows your resting heart rate over the last thirty days - that window is fixed, it doesn't follow the pills - and your most recent VO2max reading. Both need a wrist device, and VO2max is only worked out on qualifying outdoor walks and runs, so it arrives every few days rather than every day. No watch, no card.
Sleep
Sleep has two pills, W and M - a week or a month of nights. Anything longer is a different picture and isn't on this screen.
Last night leads, in full: your sleep score out of 100, how long you were actually asleep, when you fell asleep and when you woke up, and how the night compared with your sleep goal. If the night was measured but couldn't be scored - no stage data, usually because nothing was on your wrist - the duration leads instead. Seven hours you genuinely slept is worth more than an apology about a missing score.
Score trend plots how the score moved across the period. Three averages sit under it: your average duration, your average score, and how many nights were measured.
What the night is made of is the last card - awake, REM, light and deep as one bar, averaged across the nights in the period that carried stage data. The hour-by-hour timeline of a single night isn't here; that lives on the night's own card in the Workouts tab, where you can open one night in full.
You need health sync on
None of this is typed in by hand. It arrives from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, and until you switch that on there's nothing to draw.
Open More → Settings → Apple Health (or Health Connect on Android) and turn Import on. The first sync brings in the last 90 days, so both screens have something to say straight away. The full picture is in Apple Health and Health Connect.
Until then the Activity and Sleep cards simply aren't on the Statistics hub. Four empty charts would suggest something is broken, and nothing is - the switch is just off.
A day with no data is missing, not zero
This one is worth being blunt about. If you left your phone at home on Tuesday, Tuesday has no step count - and we draw a gap in the line rather than a day on which you took zero steps. Same for a night you didn't wear your watch: no score, and it's left out of your averages rather than dragging them down.
So a sparse chart is honest, not broken. A fortnight with five measured days shows five dots, and the totals underneath count only what was really measured.
Good to know
- Distances and pace follow your unit preference (km or miles) from Settings.
- Gym sessions aren't here. A session you tracked in hi.fitness with sets and reps belongs to the Gym card - see Your training statistics. Activity is for what covers ground.
- Steps and active energy are your whole day - walking, stairs, everything - not the sum of your recorded sessions.
- Pull down on either screen to refresh. Handy right after your watch has synced.
