Execution

How to do it

  1. Sit parallel on a bench with your feet flat on the floor. Hold a barbell across your upper back with an overhand grip, hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.

  2. Hinge at your hips and lean your torso forward, lowering it towards your thighs while keeping your back straight.

  3. Lower your torso until it is nearly parallel to the floor, while keeping your back straight and your elbows slightly bent.

  4. Lift your torso back to the starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form tips

  • Focus on hinging at the hips rather than bending at the waist to properly target the lower back and hamstrings.

  • Control the descent and ascent of your torso to maximize muscle engagement and prevent strain.

  • Breathe steadily, exhaling as you lower your torso and inhaling as you return to the starting position.
