Attach a straight bar to a low pulley on a cable machine.
Execution
How to do it
Attach a straight bar to a low pulley on a cable machine. Stand facing away from the machine, with your feet shoulder-width apart and the bar held with an overhand grip, palms facing down.
Stand upright with your back straight and core engaged. Let the bar hang down in front of your thighs with your arms fully extended and the cable passing between your legs.
Raise the bar in front of you to shoulder height, keeping your arms straight but with a slight bend in the elbows.
Slowly lower the bar back to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Form tips
Exhale as you raise the bar and inhale as you lower it back down.
Avoid using momentum; focus on the contraction of your shoulder muscles.
Ensure your shoulders stay down and relaxed, not shrugged up towards your ears.
