Execution
How to do it
Place your hands shoulder-width apart on a sturdy box or bench about 40-50 cm high. Walk your feet in until your hips are high and your body forms an inverted V, legs straight or slightly bent, head between your arms.
Bend your elbows, letting them travel forward at about 45 degrees, and lower the top of your head towards the front edge of the box.
Stop when your head is just above the box, keeping your hips high.
Push through your hands to straighten your arms and return to the starting position. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Form tips
Keep your hips high throughout: the more upright your torso, the more your shoulders work.
Make sure the box cannot slide, or set it against a wall.
When 12 controlled repetitions feel easy, move on to the pike push-up on the floor.
