# Apple Health and Health Connect

hi.fitness can exchange training data with your phone's health app - **Apple Health** on iPhone, **Health Connect** on Android. It works in both directions, and you decide on each one separately.

Open **More → Settings → Apple Health** (or **Health Connect** on Android).

## Bringing activity in

Switch on **Import** and hi.fitness reads:

- **Workouts you did outside the app** - a run, a swim, a bike ride, a session your watch recorded. They appear on the matching day in the **Workouts** tab, with duration, distance, calories and your average heart rate.
- **Body weight** - one entry per day, so it feeds your progress charts without you typing it in.
- **Steps and calories burned** - the whole-day totals, shown under the day's workout card.

The first time you switch it on we bring in the last 90 days. After that it updates by itself: on iPhone a new workout usually arrives shortly after your watch syncs it, even if the app is closed. On Android it updates when you open hi.fitness or pull down to refresh.

## Sending workouts out

Switch on **Save workouts** and every session you finish in hi.fitness is written to your phone's health app. It counts toward your Apple Watch activity rings and shows up anywhere else that reads your health data.

If you delete a workout in hi.fitness, the copy is removed too.

## Seeing it on the web

Everything is in your web history too, not just on the phone. Open **Analysis** and imported activity sits in the same list as the sessions you tracked here, newest first, each one labelled with where it came from.

Click a run or a walk and you get exactly what your phone measured - duration, distance, calories, average and maximum heart rate. Those figures are read-only: the device recorded them, so hi.fitness shows them as measured rather than letting them be edited.

If you train with a coach, they see the same list on your profile.

## Duplicates are handled for you

If you track a gym session in hi.fitness while wearing a watch, both apps end up with a record of it. hi.fitness recognises that they are the same workout and keeps **one** entry - the one you tracked - and fills in the calories and heart rate your watch measured. You will not see the same session twice.

## Calories: two different numbers

The calories on a workout are what that session burned. The calories on the day row are your **whole day** - walking, stairs, everything - as measured by your phone or watch. The second number is not the sum of your workouts, and hi.fitness never treats it as one.

## Good to know

- Everything stays between your phone and your hi.fitness account. We never share your health data.
- You can turn either direction off at any time, and nothing already imported is deleted.
- If you said no to the permission prompt, the switch will not move. Grant access in your phone's system settings and try again.
- Apple Health is only on iPhone; Android uses Health Connect, which may need installing from the Play Store on older phones.
