# Starting a workout

Starting a workout is a one-tap action on your dashboard - not a menu item. Your **Today's workout** card shows what's next, and the **Start workout** screen lets you pick any session.

## From your dashboard

The **Today's workout** card sits near the top of your dashboard:

- If your plan has a workout lined up, the card shows it - tap **Start workout** to jump straight into the tracker, or **Choose another** to see all your options.
- If nothing is scheduled, tap **Start workout** to open the picker.

## The Start workout screen

Three ways to begin:

- **Your program** - the workouts assigned in your current plan. Your next session is highlighted ("Next in plan"); tap any workout to start it.
- **Freeform workout** - start with an empty session and add exercises as you go.
- **Choose from library** - browse ready-made workouts and start one right away. (You can also start any workout straight from the Library.)

Whichever you pick, the workout opens in the tracker. From there it works exactly like [Tracking a workout](tracking-a-workout) - log your sets, rate the effort, and save it to your history.
